Many people were injured after a school bus they were travelling in was involved in an accident along the Kericho-Nakuru Highway in Ekerenyo, Nyamira North.
The bus driver that was heading to Nakuru for the Ministry of Repentance and Holiness end-year celebrations presided over by Prophet David Owuor is said to have veered off the road and rammed into kiosks before rolling several times.
The people injured were rushed to the Nyamira County Referral Hospital, and Ekerenyo Sub-county Hospital in Nyamira North.
The end-year celebrations are held annually at Menengai Grounds in Nakuru from December 30.

Separate incident
In another incident, a car accident on the Kenol-Murang’a route in Kariguini resulted in the immediate deaths of two people.
According to reports, the accident happened after a pickup truck travelling in the direction of Kenol collided head-on with a truck travelling in the opposite way.
The pickup’s driver and his passenger passed away instantly, while no one was wounded in the lorry.
Eyewitnesses claim that the pickup truck driver struck the lorry while attempting to pass a matatu.
They noted that the area had become a deadly black spot owing to the number of accidents that have occurred in recent months.
“About two months ago, two accidents occurred at the same place and lives were lost,” one of the witnesses stated.
Residents of the region have therefore pleaded with the appropriate authorities to accept their request and have implemented safety measures to aid motorists in upholding road safety.
A witness continued, “The road was being re-carpeted, but the marking was not done, and there are no road signs.”
As investigations get underway, the two victims’ bodies were taken to General Kago Mortuary in Thika and the vehicles were brought to Maragua Police station.
