Nyamira Governor Amos Nyaribo Election Upheld
Nyamira Governor Amos Nyaribo Election Upheld. After examining two petitions contesting the election results, the Nyamira High Court confirmed the election of Governor Amos Nyaribo. This comes after a long wait of the Court’s decision by the Nyamira residents.
IEBC vs The First Petition
Election-related mistakes and the creation of two separate Form 36As in some polling stations were among the allegations made in the first petition, which was submitted by voter Dennis Omwenga Ayiera, a resident of Nyamira County.
However, after taking both sides’ arguments into account, the court decided to dismiss the petition which was alleged to be rigged and having incorrect results as submitted by Dennis Omwenga Ayiera.
Amos Nyaribo vs The Second Petition
A variety of anomalies and malpractices were charged in the second appeal, including the IEBC’s failure to follow the law when holding the elections, which was submitted by Walter Enock Nyambati Osebe.
The court also denied this petition after taking into account the reasons made by both sides.
This decision upholds the election of Governor Nyaribo, who will represent Nyamira for a period of five years.
Attorneys Stephen Ligunya and Julius Anyoka, who represented Governor Nyaribo, sought the court to dismiss the petition because they believed it to be unfounded and no evidence of the alleged irregularities in the Election process.
Main Petition
Walter Nyambati has already lost a petition three times vying for the seat of Nyamira Gubernatorial.
He twice attempted to overturn the victory of the late Governor Nyagarama in Nyamira County.
A few months after High Court Judge James Makau dismissed the petition brought before him in Nyamira, Mr. Nyambati attempted to reverse Mr. Nyagarama’s victory for the second time in 2018 in an
effort to overturn his victory.
The main opponent of Nyaribo, Walter Nyambati, was chosen late last year to lead the board of the Geothermal Development Company for a three-year tenure beginning on December 23, 2022. Reports indicating that he has already resumed the work.
