Judicial Service Commission Advertises New Job Opportunities. The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has started the recruitment process to appoint 20 Supreme Court judges to strengthen the administration of justice in the country. The Chief Justice, Justice Martha Kume, announced the vacancy in a news release dated September 27, 2023.
In terms of remuneration, according to the Salaries and Remuneration Commission of Kenya regulations, the total salary package for this position ranges from Ksh657,426 to Ksh1,000,974.
Applicants must meet certain qualifications to be considered, including having a law degree from a recognized university, being an advocate of the High Court of Kenya or having similar qualifications in a common law jurisdiction.
In addition, the candidate must have at least ten years of experience in the higher judiciary, professional master’s degree, distinguished academic, legal practitioner or related field of law. They must also maintain good moral character and adhere to the standards of Chapter Six of the Constitution on Leadership and Integrity.
Candidates are expected to demonstrate professionalism, effective communication skills, fairness, good character, good judgment, extensive legal and life experience, and a strong commitment to community and community service.
The inauguration process will be carried out in accordance with Article 166(1)(b), (2) and (5) of the 2010 Constitution, Section V, Section 30 and Schedule 1 of the Judicial Service Act, 2011.
